Mark J. Russ

Mark has been the President and COO of National Specialty Alloys (“NSA”) since 2007.  NSA stocks, processes and distributes specialty stainless and nickel alloys to manufacturers, machine shops and repair facilities in the oil & gas, power, petrochem, water, aerospace/defense, marine and industrial sectors. NSA was a private equity-backed portfolio company until its sale to Reliance Steel and Aluminum Company (NYSE: RS) in 2012. 

Mark is a hands-on company builder and business leader with private equity and Fortune 100 operating experiences and a strong entrepreneurial record of commercializing ideas via senior executive roles in business development, M&A and operations.  His career spans developing, acquiring and managing complex energy-related and technology businesses; commercializing large-scale infrastructure projects, including an $800 million energy complex (i.e., an integrated 500 MW power plant, LNG terminal, desalination plant and associated pipelines); and leading corporate development activities involving privatizations, investments, acquisitions, and divestitures. 

Mark has for-profit & non-profit board experiences, including with DPIS Engineering, Azima DLI, Choice Energy and United Communications Corporation. Mark is also an active private investor.  

Mark served in the U.S. Navy after graduating from the US Naval Academy with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering.  He is a TOPGUN graduate and holds an MBA from Harvard.
